lyrics

I saw it in golden lights
A smoke that makes the windows bind
Drifting in and out of sleep
Shadows moving from the space they keep
Dancing as the light fights them off
As the glass beneath caved at the thought

The sun glowed through the gaps tween my fingers
So small against my hand
Heavy on my shoulders
Clothes pasted onto the backs of a child's laugh
The smell of summer rang
As if it had never left

There's something in the way of what's right
A smudge on a photograph
Mistaken for ghosts at night
White ribbons of light that said they were there
Empty in the eyes but full in stare

There's a heart attack in that glare
Golden grass that waves in the air
There's a ghost on that face
Wiped off to keep things safe
